Our CEO, Conor McCoole, recently sat down with the National Business Review (NBR) to discuss SC Oscar’s growing renewable energy footprint in New Zealand and why we see immense opportunity in the region's energy transition.
Following our acquisition of Rānui Generation in 2024, we completed our flagship Twin Rivers solar farm in Kaitāia in December 2025. Construction is now progressing on our next North Island solar installations, pushing toward a target capacity of 130 MW to 160 MW.
We are developing four bio-energy projects (two in the North Island, two in the South Island) that convert forestry residue ("slash") into high-efficiency wood pellets. This offers local food and dairy producers a scalable alternative to coal and gas for process heat.
We outlined our plans to deploy up to US$170 million (NZ$288 million) across New Zealand, supported by institutional investors and our Active Investor Plus (AIP) fund.
We shared insights on New Zealand's competitive, market-driven electricity market, where lower development costs and fast execution enable us to move projects from investment to generation in roughly 18 months. Read the full interview and coverage on the National Business Review.
